Every ingredient in a cream is doing one of four jobs. Once you can name them, an INCI list stops being a wall of Latin.
What the skin barrier is, where water goes, and what a moisturiser can and cannot change.
Phases, percentages and the order of things. The minimum kit and ingredients to follow along.
Why oil and water refuse to mix, what an emulsifier does about it, and what holds the result together.
Building the water phase: humectants, actives that belong here, and how much water a cream really needs.
Oils, butters and emollients — how the choice shapes the feel. Bringing the two phases together.
What happens after emulsification: preservation, pH adjustment, thickening and the final texture.
The whole process end to end, in real time: weighing, heating, emulsifying, cooling, and the finished moisturiser.
